The Issue

On October 7th 2025 our beloved family dog Mercy was brutally stabbed multiple times in an intentional vicious attack and succumbed to his injuries. We are left in shock, heartbroken and traumatized. Sadly, in San Diego County, incidents of animal cruelty often do not receive the immediate and dedicated attention they deserve from law enforcement.

We demand this violent offender be arrested and charged for this brutal killing.

This petition seeks Justice by urging the San Diego County Police Department to treat animal cruelty and death with the same urgency and importance as crimes against humans.

Animals are not just pets; they are beloved family members who offer unconditional love and companionship. When they are subject to abuse or violence, it not only causes them physical harm but also causes deep emotional pain to their human families. National statistics from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) show that each year, hundreds of thousands of animals suffer at the hands of abusers, many of whom remain unpunished.

Yet, San Diego lags in taking action against such atrocious acts. In recent years, there have been several cases where animal abusers have not faced the appropriate legal consequences, sending a disturbing message about the value we place on animal lives.

By prioritizing animal cruelty cases, the police can play a crucial role in not only ensuring justice for these innocent beings but also in potentially preventing other acts of violence. Research shows that individuals who harm animals are more likely to commit violent crimes against humans.

We propose mandatory training for officers on how to handle cases of animal cruelty, dedicating resources to expedite investigations, and harsher penalties for offenders.

This is more than just a legal issue; it is a moral obligation to our furry family members who cannot speak for themselves. Your signature can help us spark this crucial change in our community.

Please sign this petition to help protect the animals we cherish from becoming victims of cruelty and ensure that offenders are brought to justice swiftly and effectively and to bring Justice for Mercy.
