The Issue

In the spirit of a concerned citizen who is frankly tired of MPs exploiting the system, this petition demands an immediate and comprehensive prohibition on MPs from receiving personal gifts or donations. For too long, these gifts and donations have shadowed integrity, clouded judgement and created questionable ties, diluting the very essence of democracy. According to Transparency International UK, there are 86 MPs who accepted free gifts, international trips, or donations in 2019 alone (Source: Transparency International UK). It is my firm belief that our MPs should serve the public earnestly, undistracted by corporate sponsorship, hidden agendas or personal gains. They should rely solely on their stipulated remuneration to maintain the legitimacy of their positions and to sustain public trust. It's high time we advocate a sense of ethics and curb any opportunities for systemic exploitation. For the love of our democracy and in the interest of a transparent government, let's call for complete and irrevocable prohibition on MPs receiving personal gifts or donations. Please sign the petition to echo this change.
