The Issue
Every American citizen is impacted when our elections are not safeguarded. The right to vote is a sacred responsibility of citizenship, and allowing non-citizens to participate dilutes the voices of American citizens.
Communities across the country lose confidence in our elections when there is even the perception that ballots may be cast by those who are not entitled to do so. If we do not act, the very foundation of our republic is at risk. Elections must reflect the will of the people — and that means the people of the United States, not foreign nationals.
The Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act mandates proof of citizenship at the time of voter registration—closing loopholes that currently allow noncitizens to register and possibly vote in our elections.
