In the midst of a global pandemic, there are hundreds of thousands of pounds of food going to waste everyday. Farmers all over the country are dumping milk, meat, and produce on the ground because of limitations in the supply chain. Warehouses are trashing food because it's not packaged properly to sell in stores. And people are going hungry. 

     There is enough food in this country. Feeding America estimates that there are 72 billion pounds of food wasted every year in the United States. 72 billion pounds! While even before this crisis there were an estimated 37 million Americans going hungry, now those numbers are climbing. Instead of redirecting food to food banks whose shelves are going empty, we're still dumping it on the ground and in the trash. 

     This can be prevented. There is no reason, especially now, to waste this food. Join me in calling on President Trump, all members of congress, and the owners of the major farms and food suppliers to redirect food that would normally be wasted to the food banks all over this country.
