Honor Vermont’s Heroes: Make Veterans Day a Statewide School Holiday

The Issue

The Problem: Currently, a majority of Vermont schools remain open on Veterans Day. This prevents students from attending local parades, ceremonies, and events that honor those who currently serve and have served.

The Goal: We are calling on the Vermont Legislature to introduce and pass a bill requiring all public schools to observe Veterans Day as a holiday.

Why it Matters: Veterans Day isn't just a day off—it’s a day for civic action. Closing schools will allow students to honor our veterans, hear their stories, and show the respect our community heroes deserve.

Sign this petition to tell Montpelier that Vermont students are ready to honor our veterans.
