The Bush administration used the false pretense of an imminent nuclear, chemical and biological weapons threat to deceive Congress into rationalizing this unnecessary conflict, which has now tragically claimed the lives of several thousand US troops, at least 100,000 Iraqi civilians, and caused the displacement of at least 2 million Iraqis. This war was a mistake from the beginning. The troops have done everything we asked of them. It is well past time to bring them home. I would like to see an international solution to the crisis we have created in Iraq. It makes me angry when I think of the deceptions associated with this war--including, most prominently, the incorrect assertion that Saddam Hussein was connected with Al Qaeda. Saddam Hussein was evil, but there are other evil dictators around the world who we leave be (some, we ally with). I am afraid that we deal with the consequences of this war for years to come. The first step toward setting this right is removing our troops and ending the war.
