Save Our Religion And Theology Degree!

The Issue

As a proud graduate of Cardiff University, I am deeply concerned about the recent proposal to merge the School of History, Archaeology and Religion. This will see the Religion and Theology degree scrapped. This decision will result in job losses and the reduction of invaluable degree programs that promote understanding and empathy in an increasingly divisive world.

Education and research within the fields of religion and theology are vital. These subjects play a central role in fostering a sense of global citizenship and nurturing respect for cultural diversities. Reflecting on my role in humanitarian education and having pursued a degree in Religion and Theology, I've seen first-hand how in-depth knowledge of world religions can facilitate a greater understanding of cross-cultural values and principles.

Choosing to end the teaching of Religion and Theology dismisses the importance of these disciplines and jeopardizes the future of students looking to contribute positively to our society.

Will you urge the authorities at Cardiff University to reassess their decision and to recognize the invaluable benefits this degree brings to students, the university, and society as a whole? Kindly sign this petition to make our collective voices heard and defend Religion and Theology from the potential closure.
