Urge the Leonia BoE to Lead a Restorative Justice Process for Mr. A’s Victims

Urge the Leonia BoE to Lead a Restorative Justice Process for Mr. A’s Victims
The Issue
For decades, victims of former Anna C. Scott Elementary School teacher Mr. A have lived in silence and pain—abused, disbelieved, and ignored by the very institutions meant to protect them. Now, survivors are courageously coming forward to tell the truth and seek healing.
We, the undersigned, call on the Leonia Board of Education to take an active role in a restorative justice process that centers survivors, acknowledges past harm, and helps the community move forward. Specifically, we ask that the Board of Education to engage RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) or a comparable professional organization to:
- Provide trauma-informed support for victims and their families
- Offer expert guidance to the district and town leaders
- Facilitate a community-wide healing process
- Ensure transparency and accountability moving forward
This is a moment for Leonia to lead—not with fear, but with compassion, courage, and responsibility. By supporting this petition, you stand with survivors and affirm that healing and justice are not only possible, but necessary.
Let’s help Leonia become the kind of community it was always meant to be.
