We believe our Fire Station #6, an historic landmark at 23rd and Yesler in the Central District, should continue to be of the greatest benefit to our communities. The City is proposing the Fire Station #6 be sold to the highest bidder as surplus property, at market rate of more than $2 million. This would inevitably impact the spirit of our neighborhoods.

We propose that the City negotiate an affordable price (as it did for Fire Station #39 in the North End) for the building. Further, we propose our Fire Station be used as an Holistic Community Health Clinic at the site that would offer health care for all, regardless of ability to pay. Such a community clinic would provide treatments for high blood pressure, diabetes, PTSD, cancer, heart disease, mental health issues and other conditions commonly found in our diverse communities.
