Determine whether Mitt Romney committed voter fraud in the 2010 election
Determine whether Mitt Romney committed voter fraud in the 2010 election
The Issue
In June 2011, Republican Presidential candidate Fred Karger presented evidence that Mitt Romney voted illegally in Massachusetts after having moved out of state.
The Karger allegations were presented in an article in Mother Jones magazine, and Karger was interviewed on the Rachel Maddow television show.
Brian McNiff of the Massachusetts Secretary of State's Election Division was quoted soon afterward in The Daily Caller as saying there would be no investigation. Confusingly, Mr. McNiff indicated that the matter had been adjudicated eight years earlier, in 2002.
Voter fraud carries a serious penalty in Massachusetts, up to five years imprisonment. The charges should be formally investigated so that voters can know whether Mr. Romney committed such fraud.
