The Issue

We, the undersigned, kindly request that the St. Louis Earth Day Festival make a significant change in its food offerings for the upcoming 2025 event. We strongly advocate for the removal of animal products and inclusion of exclusively plant-based food options at the festival.

As we are all aware, the environmental impact of animal agriculture is staggering. It is a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, deforestation, water pollution, and biodiversity loss. By promoting and providing plant-based food options, the St. Louis Earth Day Festival has the opportunity to align its values with its actions and significantly reduce its carbon footprint. Moreover, removing animal food products at the festival will align with the principles of sustainability and compassion that Earth Day represents. It will demonstrate a commitment to reducing our ecological footprint and promoting a healthier and more equitable food system for all.

Plant-based diets have been recognized by numerous scientific studies as one of the most effective ways for individuals to reduce their environmental impact and improve their health. By offering exclusively plant-based options, the St. Louis Earth Day Festival can inspire attendees to make more environmentally friendly food choices and lead by example in fostering a more sustainable future. In making this change, the St. Louis Earth Day Festival would set a positive precedent for other events and organizations, demonstrating leadership in promoting sustainability and environmental responsibility.

We urge the St. Louis Earth Day Festival Committee to consider this request and transition to offering only plant-based food options at the 2025 event. This step would be a significant stride towards creating a more sustainable and compassionate world.
