#SaveSaeJoon: Reopen Sae Joon Park's Case to bring him home
The Issue
On June 23, 2025, Mr. Sae Joon Park, a U.S. Army Purple Heart Veteran and green card holder, was forced to self-deport to South Korea due to a standing removal order. This order stemmed from past charges involving drug possession and failure to appear in court. Despite these charges, the truth remains that Mr. Park, in every sense other than paperwork, is an American.
Mr. Park's service and sacrifice to the United States transcends any accusation or error from the past. He bravely took a bullet in service to this country, defending the very freedoms we cherish. He swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States, even though he was not yet a citizen. For all he has sacrificed, Mr. Park has earned the right not only to reside in America but to be recognized as one of its citizens.
We urge the Queens County District Attorney's Office in New York to reopen Mr. Park's criminal case and drop the convictions for drug possession and bail jumping, which stemmed from his PTSD caused by his deployment to Panama. These convictions, as they stand, hinder his immigration attorneys from making the necessary motions in immigration court to cancel his deportation case and allow him to return to the United States.
Past mistakes should not overshadow Mr. Park's life of dedicated service. Compassion and justice demand that we reconsider his situation. Our national ethos and the values Mr. Park defended require us to act justly and with humanity.
Join us in urging the Queens County District Attorney's Office to take a stand for justice, honor, and the American dream. Sign this petition to support Mr. Sae Joon Park in his quest to return home to the United States.
