I am a passionate part of an online community where we share a deep interest, love, and dedication to RuneScape private servers (RSPS's). Recently, the firm behind the original game, Jagex, has launched legal actions against private servers as a whole, closing numerous ones already, (ONLY those outside the U.S.) This aggressive movement threatens our cherished digital space, a place where we have built connections, friendships, and invested countless hours.

Fair Use copyright laws permit the use of copyrighted material in specific, fair circumstances without the need for permission from the copyright owner. The RSPS community is built around non-commercial, transformative use, which respects Jagex's intellectual property rights while allowing fans to engage with the game in new and exciting ways.

Mainstream RuneScape has over 1.5 million subscribers (source: Jagex, 2024), but this figure doesn't account for the vibrant communities nurtured through private servers, which is an integral part of the game's cultural tapestry. We believe in our right to maintain these servers, not to infringe upon Jagex's rights or profits, but as a testament to the vibrancy and viability of the game they've created.

It seems American Free Speech (Amendment 1) Laws are preventing Jagex from being able to continue lawsuits in those respected area's.

That's why we are urging the American and international RuneScape community's to unite in defense of RSPS's. By signing this petition, we are demonstrating our committed resistance to Jagex's legal actions. We call upon Jagex to recognize our legal rights and to work with the RSPS community rather than against it. Like World of warcraft, Rust, Minecraft & many other Private servers have done.
