On October 30, Stanford suspended The Tree (the university's unofficial mascot) for unfurling a banner protesting the university's war on fun. We believe that this was an unjust violation of the student's right to free expression, and we call on Stanford to reinstate The Tree. While the university can engage with the merits of our arguments, it should not censor us. This suspension is yet another sign of an administration hellbent on stamping out fun and unique experiences within our university.
