Victories in Human Rights

As a Myanmar person, I would like to express my thoughts regarding Scarlet Heart Thailand.

First of all, I appreciate the hard work and dedication of the cast and production team. I understand that this is a fictional drama created for entertainment, and I respect the creativity involved in bringing historical settings and beautiful costumes to life.

However, I believe that cultural inspiration should always come with respect and proper acknowledgment. Myanmar has a rich cultural heritage, including traditional clothing, art, and historical customs that have been preserved for generations. If these elements have inspired the costumes and artistic designs in the series, I sincerely hope that their origins will be clearly and respectfully acknowledged.

I understand that Lanna and Myanmar share historical and cultural connections, and I appreciate the opportunity to see these beautiful cultural influences represented on screen. My intention is not to criticize Thailand, attack the actors, or oppose cultural exchange. Rather, I hope that every culture contributing to the creation of this drama will receive the recognition and respect it deserves.

Cultural appreciation can bring people closer together when it is based on understanding, honesty, and mutual respect. Acknowledging the origins of cultural elements does not diminish the beauty of a drama. Instead, it makes the production more meaningful and helps audiences learn about the history and traditions of different cultures.

As a Myanmar fan, I sincerely hope GMMTV will take these concerns into consideration and provide clear cultural acknowledgments where appropriate.

I wish the cast and production team continued success, and I hope this situation can become an opportunity for greater cultural understanding and respect between Myanmar and Thailand.

As Myanmar fans, we are not satisfied with GMMTV’s statement regarding Scarlet Heart Thailand. This is not about hatred toward Thailand or Thai people. We are speaking out because we care about our cultural heritage and are disappointed that our concerns about the use of Myanmar cultural elements without clear acknowledgment or permission remain unanswered.

We cannot accept the explanation that Ullavee is a fictional city as a sufficient response to our concerns. A fictional setting does not erase the cultural origins of the traditions, costumes, and artistic elements used in its creation. We want clear acknowledgment of Myanmar’s cultural contributions and proper credit for their origins.

We are also deeply disappointed by the way the Shwe Mee Khut dance was portrayed as entertainment for princes and princesses. The Shwe Mee Khut dance is a traditional Rakhine dance associated with paying homage to the Buddha. Its cultural and religious significance deserves to be understood and represented respectfully, not reduced to a form of royal entertainment.

We are not asking GMMTV to disrespect any culture. We are asking you to show the same respect to Myanmar’s cultural heritage that you expect others to show to yours. We want a clear explanation, proper cultural acknowledgment and credit, and a sincere response to the specific concerns raised by Myanmar people.

This is not hatred. This is about respect, recognition, and cultural responsibility.

Please listen to Myanmar fans. Our cultural heritage deserves to be acknowledged, not overlooked.

Hello everyone, I highly respect and love all the artists involved in this series. As a fan, I have been eagerly waiting for two years to watch it. However, when the trailer was released, I was deeply disappointed to see that Myanmar's traditional attire from the Konbaung dynasty was used in the show.

In the past, when series about King Bayinnaung (Hanthawaddy) were produced, they acknowledged it as Myanmar traditional clothing and Myanmar history, so I did not feel angered, though I felt a bit sad about Thai productions adaptation of our history. But in this case, the production team must take responsibility, as it has caused immense anger among the people of Myanmar.

This series is a remake from the very beginning. If Thailand wanted to create a fictional and imaginative adaptation, they should have used Thai traditional attire from the start. Using Myanmar traditional clothing in a series that has absolutely no connection to Myanmar history is an insult to the Myanmar people.

I demand that the production team issue a formal apology statement and change the costumes. Otherwise, this issue will escalate, leading to even bigger problems and ongoing controversies. I would also like to urge Thailand never to use Myanmar history or Myanmar traditional attire in the future. This matter has nothing to do with the cast and artists.

This is not about attacking Thailand or restricting creative freedom. It’s about respecting Myanmar’s cultural heritage. If the costumes draw inspiration from Myanmar’s Konbaung-era royal attire, that influence deserves proper recognition. Creative freedom should never mean erasing the origins of another culture’s heritage. We stand for cultural respect, historical accuracy, and proper acknowledgment.

Egypt has the right to return all its monuments. Ancient Egyptian monuments belong to Egypt, not anywhere else. Every country deserves to keep their cultures to themselves. Now, Egyptians have the official place to keep their culture safe and secure; if you call that an excuse for refusing to give them back. As an Egyptian, I can assure you how painful to hear that our culture is being taken away from us; It makes us feel that our history is being taken away from us.
