Update for January 25th 2026:

Hello all, thank you for the outpouring community response. This is one of the biggest Irish Change.org local community petitions to date on an issue like this. Please continue to share this petition as we smash past the 10,000 signature goal.

We are currently awaiting the update from ACP who we have officially appealed the decision to grant permission to. We will keep pushing back against this! In the meantime, sign and share the petition, share the petition with as many people as you know so we can reach our milestones!

Core Issue:

Blanchardstown Shopping Centre has acted as more than just a shopping centre for almost 30 years. It has been a source of employment, a place to enjoy with friends and family, a place that has captured special moments for little ones, celebrations, a social outlet, and so much more.

Planning application: FW25A/0410E seeks to undo that through a "mobility enhancement project" which ultimately will:

  • Replace free, open community parking, with barrier-controlled, for-profit parking.
  • Remove almost 500 mature trees and significantly impact natural biodiversity in the area
  • Drastically increase traffic congestion and reduce air-quality / increase air pollution due to bottlenecking and car idling.
  • Erode accessibility for elderly, disabled users, retail workers, young people wishing to use the library and chapel users.
  • Bypass genuine community community consultation, despite having a lasting and dramatic large consequence on a significant portion of the population located in one of Ireland's quickest developing populations local area and surrounding areas.

The planning is also seeking permission to "operate outside of normal trading hours" while the main compoud of materials will be located beside Mr. Price / TK Maxxx parking area, this is a short distance from Whitestown where young families and children are residing. This will no doubt cause disruption, and danger to those who are operating.

The Shopping Centre will be littered with LED signage displaying amount of car parking spaces, endless barriers which cause slow-ing of traffic and imposed charges on parking which will socially disadvantage our workers, many who are on minimum wage.

As a community, we need to reject a proposal that saw a site notice and newspaper ad be the only notice we've received. Our shops and local economy stand to lose valuable team members. This is coming at a time of one of the worst cost of living crisis' in the country and the fact that this application doesn't even outline the plans, instead they are hidden and nestled within drawings only experts could understand is in bad faith towards our community that deserves better.

Please sign to support the local community and share this petition so we can deliver it to Fingal County Council.

Please note: Change.org may ask you to contribute to the campaign, this is directly on their platform and this is not us asking for a contribution. This will boost the campaign on the website, but we do not receive any money or set up a fundraiser for this. Please do not feel obliged to do so.
