مسابقات شطرنج قهرمانی جهان فوریه 2017 در تهران برگزار میشود و چند  قهرمان بین المللی شطرنج از جمله نازی پیکیدزه به دلیل عدم پذیرش حجاب از شرکت در مسابقات سر باز زد و آتنا دایمی در نامه ای به فدراسیون  بین المللی شطرنج زنان خواهان برگزاری مسابقات شطرنج در ایران و تسلیم نشدن در برابر قانونی میباشد که حجاب را به تمام زنان دنیا تحمیل میکند

سلام 
من آتنا دائمی فعال حقوق بشر در ایران هستم که به دلیل فعالیت های حقوق بشری به ١٤ سال زندان محکوم شدم که در این روزها حکم زندانم به ٧ سال تبدیل شد. 
باعث افتخار و خوشحالی ست که میزبان مسابقات شطرنج زنان درایران باشیم. این میزبانی به پیشرفت ورزش زنان ایران کمک خواهد کرد. به دنیا نشان می دهد که علی رغم همه موانع و تضییع سیستماتیک ابتدایی ترین حقوق مان، همچنان ایستاده ایم. اما از طرف دیگر تن دادن به قانون حجاب اجباری نفی حق انتخاب آزاد همه زنان دنیا از جمله زنان ایرانی خواهد بود.
در طی ۳۷ سال گذشته زنان بسیاری به دلیل عدم تبعیت از قوانین حجاب اجباری که از پوشاندن موی سر تا رنگ لباس را در بر می گرفته مورد انواع خشونت ها برخورد های خیابانی، بازداشت ها، شلاق ها ، حبس ها و جریمه های نقدی قرار گرفته اند.
مطلع شدیم نازی پاکیدزه٬ شطرنج باز گرجی- امریکایی و قهرمان شطرنج ۲۰۱۶ امریکا٬ از شرایط زنان ایرانی که امروز هم مجبور به پوشیدن حجاب هستند مطلع شده و به این میزبانی اعتراض کرده و می گوید: به عنوان یک زن نمی خواهد وادار به پوشیدن حجابی شود که سرکوب او و زنان دیگر محسوب می شود، حتی اگر این کارش به این منجر شود که نتواند در مهمترین رقابتهای دوران حرفه‌ای زندگیش شرکت کند. پافشاری ایشان برای حق انسانی خودش به عنوان یک زن قابل تحسین است. نازی پاکیدزه با این کارش نخواسته به تثبیت حجاب اجباری برای زنان غیرایرانی و عادی جلوه دادن آن در چشم جهان کمک کند و حتی خودش را هم ناجی زنان ایرانی نمی داند بلکه صراحتا می گوید به فدراسیون جهانی اعتراض دارم که چرا از حق ما زنان ورزشکار دفاع نمی کند. 
شاید توریست ها و ورزشکاران و دیپلمات هایی که به کشور ما سفر میکنند چند روز حجاب بر سر گذاشتن برایشان تفریح و تنوعی باشد و تنها برای چند روز حتی از آن لذت ببرند اما این امر سبب فشار حاکمیت به زنان داخل کشور و سبب هدر رفتن زحمات چندین ساله مخالفان حجاب اجباری در ایران میشود. 
از شما درخواست میکنم که نسبت به تضییع حقوق زنان دنیا از جمله میلیون ها زن ایرانی بی تفاوت نباشید. این سرکوب را تحت عنوان تفاوت های فرهنگی و احترام به فرهنگ ما توجیه نکنید و از میزبان مسابقات بخواهید تا شرایط برگزاری مسابقات طبق استاندارد های بین المللی را در ایران فراهم کند. ما مردم ایران خواهان تحمیل یک قانون تبعیض آمیز به هیچ یک از زنان دنیا نیستیم و زور و اجبار جزء فرهنگ ملت ما نیست. به همین دلیل هم خواهان برگزاری مسابقات شطرنج در کشورمان هستیم و هم خواهان تسلیم نشدن در برابر قانونی که حجاب را به تمام زنان دنیا تحمیل می کند. از شما میخواهیم چنانچه شرایط بین المللی میزبانی ایران فراهم نشد حضور پر افتخار ورزشکاران کشورمان را در کشوری دیگر فراهم کنید.

The World chess championship is going to be held in Tehran in February 2017 and Several international chess champions , including the Nazi pikidze refused to take part in competitions because of The rejection of the veil and Athena called for holding chess competitions in Iran and not surrendering before the law that imposing the hijab to the all women from all over the world in the letter to Women's International Chess Federation.

My name is Atena Daemi, an Iranian social activist who is been sentenced to 14 years in prison for my activities and recently it was changed to 7 years imprisonment sentence in appeal court.
We are honored to host women chess competitions in Iran. This will help Iranian women sports to develop. It will show the world that in spite of all obstacles and systematic violations of our rights, we are still standing. But accepting the forced Hijab law will deny the free choice of all women across the world including Iranian women.
Within the past 37 years, many women been targeted with any kind of violence in streets, arrestments, lashes, imprisonment and fines just for not observing this forced Hijab law including covering their hairs and wearing colored clothes.
We’ve been informed that Nazí Nodarovna Paikidze, Georgian-American chess player who holds the FIDE titles of International Master and Woman Grandmaster, has been informed about the situation of forced Hijab for Iranian women, protesting this hosting and tells as a woman she doesn’t want to wear the Hijab which is suppression for other women, even this makes her to miss one of the most important events in her professional life. Her insistence on her human right as a woman is admirable. Ms Paikidze is not intended to approve the forced Hijab law and normalize it in the eyes of global community by attending this championship, even she doesn’t see herself as the savior of Iranian women, but she says frankly she is protesting International Federation why they do not defend the rights of Female Athlete .
Perhaps the tourists and athletes and diplomats who travel to our country having fun by Wearing Hijab and even enjoy it for couple of days but This has led to government ‘s pressure on women in Iran and led to wasting the efforts of Opponents of compulsory hijab for years in Iran.
I ask you please do not be indifferent to the violation of women's rights including millions of Iranian women.do not justify This suppression as the name of cultural differences and respect to our culture. Please Ask the host of competitions to prepare the Conditions of Competition according to the international standards in Iran. we, the people of Iran , don’t Want to impose a discriminatory law to any women of the world and the Force and coercion are not part of our nation's culture. That is why we Want to hold the chess competitions in our country and want to just not giving up before the laws that impose hijab to all women from around the world. we ask you if the international standard conditions of Iran was not provided ,please provide another country for the glorious presence of Our athletes.
