Paducah is a UNESCO Creative City for a reason. We have artists, musicians, makers, dreamers. No line of code can take that away! So for our next campaign, we at Paducah Action are leading the charge for redesigning the Paducah city flag, and we want HUMAN creativity at the center. This is your chance to show what Paducah’s soul looks like when real people pour their vision into it. WHY NOW? Paducah is changing. Our riverfront is being transformed. Our creative community is thriving. Investment in downtown is real. New businesses are opening. New families are choosing to call this home. Our city is moving forward and our flag should reflect that momentum. The current flag doesn’t. It features imagery that is historically inaccurate and fails the professional standards used to evaluate flags worldwide. More importantly, it doesn’t tell the story of modern Paducah. HOW THIS WORKS This is a community led campaign. We’re inviting: • Local professional artists to submit original flag designs • High school students to participate as full competitors • Any resident with a vision to get involved All designs will be evaluated using the five NAVA (North American Vexillological Association) principles, the professional standard for flag design. The community will vote on finalists, and the winning design will represent Paducah for generations. WHY IT MATTERS This isn’t just about a new flag. It’s about saying: in a city, in a world increasingly run by algorithms and shortcuts, HUMAN creativity still matters. Real vision still matters. Real hands creating real art still matters.
