The Issue

Please help stop offshore wind from destroying our coastal regions. Sign our petition.

Hello 👋,

We are the Indian River High School Engineering Students Class Of 2025 & 2026.

We’re creating this petition to get the public involved in persuading government officials and lawmakers to stop the US Wind Offshore Wind Farm from being built along Rehoboth Beach, Dewey Beach, Delaware Seashore State Park, 3Rs Beach, Indian River Bay, Bethany Beach, South Bethany, Fenwick Island, Ocean City, and Assateague Island.

Negative impacts include but are not limited to:

  • Catastrophic failures causing beach closures
  • Requires frequent dangerous and vigorous maintenance with difficult access
  • Offshore wind turbines cost 13.65 cents per kW vs. natural gas combined cycle cost 3.94 cents per kW
  • High visibility from the shore
  • Possible extinction of right whales, harm to more wildlife
  • Possible blackouts and power grid issues
  • Military, security, & cyber threat vulnerability
  • Some government officials and most of the public do not know the negative impacts
  • Largest experimental wind turbines ever built
  • "US Winds" is an Italian-owned company, contract can be sold to other countries

This “ US Wind Offshore Wind Farm” has a serious possibility of catastrophic impacts. To stop this plan, our Federal, Delaware, and Maryland Governments and every citizen of Delaware and Maryland must unite to educate those around us. We must demand that the higher government powers choose land-based technology rather than Offshore Wind.

The high visibility of the turbines only scratches the surface of the negative impacts.

Please help stop offshore wind from destroying our coastal regions. Sign our petition.
