In a new report, Cheshire East are looking into closing the waste recycling sites at Middlewich, Poynton, and Bollington.

Given that Cheshire East's new 'Green Bin Charge' is coming into force in January, the closure of these sites will greatly impact local residents who choose not to sign up to the new scheme.

Furthermore, it will heighten the risk of fly tipping across the Borough, something that the impending Green Bin Tax has already increased.

We call on Cheshire East Council to look at all options to maintain the current number of waste recycling sites, and to cease the proposal of the closure of the Middlewich, Poynton, and Bollington sites.

*The Environment and Communities Committee met on September 28th. During this meeting, it was approved that the recommendations, to close all three, be put forward for a 'public consultation'. Sadly the meeting also saw ammendments put forward by Conservative Councillors to also add the option of closing either Poynton or Bollington.
