I'm a local resident who relies on the 145 Bus service for both work and leisure. My day-to-day commute is made feasible by this route and it has a significant impact on my quality of life. I have mobility issues which make other modes of transportation, like cross-country walking, not only difficult but potentially hazardous. However, this important issue goes far beyond just me.

It's not difficult to see the 145 Bus as more than just a means of transportation. It serves our community, becoming a lifeline for those who need it most. Many of our community’s school children ride bus 145 daily to their educational institutions. Our elder residents utilize this service to maintain an independent life, freely moving around for their needs and contributing to maintaining their mental health due to the autonomy it provides.

A UK study showed that when accessible transportation is lacking, the elderly can experience social isolation leading to a poorer quality of life (Age UK Reports). The potential discontinuation of the 145 Bus service not only has practical implications, but could also negatively impact the mental health of our senior citizens.

We need the 145 Bus service. Not only for me, the signer of this petition, not only for today, but for all the residents who find their freedom in using it and for the future of our community.
