The Issue

🚸 SAFETY FIRST 🚸

Say NO to Primrose School at 885 Main Street

Too Big • Too Unsafe • Wrong Location

The Reality

This project isn’t about “childcare for Reading.” It’s a 14,000 sq ft commercial daycare being forced in under the Dover Amendment — putting profits over safety. • This facility is the size of a small elementary school but squeezed onto less than 2 acres with one 80 foot driveway as its only entrance and exit.

🚦 Traffic Congestion

  • 177 children + 25 staff = 200+ daily occupants.
  • Hundreds of car trips per day entering and exiting an 80-foot driveway with 53 parking spaces total.
  • Driveway connects directly to Route 28/Main Street, a state highway (40 mph).
  • Cars queuing for drop-off/pick-up will back up onto Main Street, causing dangerous lane changes.

🚓 Public Safety Threats

  • Emergency vehicles already struggle with Route 28 congestion — this will make response times worse.
  • Teen drivers from RMHS (200+ pass daily) increase the accident risk at drop-off/pick-up hours.
  • The evacuation zone is the playground directly next to the school with no exit except a 10 foot retaining wall and fence leading to wetlands.

🅿️ Parking & Overflow Dangers

  • 53 spaces for staff plus drop off/pick up of 177 children = bottlenecks.
  • Overflow will spill onto side streets and Route 28, creating illegal parking and unsafe crossings.
