BUNGIE/SONY: Unban now, or reimburse Destiny 2 players impacted by the various ban waves
The Issue
WHO IS CONCERNED? WHAT IS HAPPENING?
BUNGIE/SONY issued a massive Destiny 2 ban wave on March 9-10th, 2023 and even more ban waves afterwards for reasons that no one understands (e.g., speed runs).
Also, a large number of players were banned, many of them falsely.
No explanation was provided to the players when they got banned. The appeal process simply doesn’t work, BungieHelp Team being overwhelmed by appeals are just automatically rejecting them.
Many players now comment in various social medias that they fear to be banned going forward, for no reason. This creates a toxic environment.

WHY IT MATTERS:
Over the years, these banned players have spent several thousands $ in the game, played thousands of hours to strengthen their characters.
When banned, the players lose everything: all the money, all the time spent, as well as their online friends… All of this lost, without any explanation for their ban.
More importantly, for some players, Destiny 2 is a very important social platform to play & meet friends. They need this game to cope with very severe issues in their life, as a key emotional support. When falsely banning these players, BUNGIE/SONY puts further at risk their mental health, with potential dramatic consequences.
Also, BUNGIE/SONY confirmed that they prepared this ban prior to the new Lightfall extension. However, BUNGIE/SONY waited to launch the new extension and took the cash payments from the players before implementing the ban wave, without sending any warnings, or without issuing temporary bans.
Many Consumer Associations have been contacted by many players in the USA, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Switzerland and Singapore, to name a few.
These Consumer Associations are starting to look into it, as it looks like an unfair commercial practice has been implemented.
WHY YOU NEED TO SIGN OFF THIS PETITION NOW:
It’s time for the players to speak up.
Please sign this petition if you wish that SONY/BUNGIE:
- unban or refund the affected players. Many of which have been banned and restricted without proper verification
- become more transparent for future punishment & ban to prevent this from happening to you
If we don’t speak up as a community of players, this would entitle BUNGIE/SONY and other industry players to keep going with these practices.

Open Letter to Mr. Pete Parsons, CEO & Chairman @ Bungie.
Dear Pete,
We are a community of players who don't understand what happened with the various ban waves that occurred since March 2023. It was brutal, no explanations provided, players who have never been banned were suddenly banned permanently without any warning or explanations. Some players were even banned falsely without having the opportunity to have their appeal properly considered.
We understand the need to have Terms of Services. However, we hope that we can be heard by you. We believe in what you wrote in your Twitter account: “be brave, be kind, f- racism and social injustice”.
With these values in mind that we do share, we hope that you set a new and more human & respectful way to manage your TOS. You shouldn’t ban your loyal players without warning them first. Please let the players come back on this game they love.
Pedagogy leads to better results than hammering people brutally.
Please help us to have our accounts back, especially for the falsely banned, or at least refund the Lightfall extension to those who don’t deserve to have their account back.
For those who deserved the ban, please consider to give them another chance, we believe that this has been a lesson learned.
